Why Have a Stump Removed?
Once you have had a tree removed, you may be concerned that the stump will either re-shoot, or die and become both an eye sore and a decaying breeding ground for pests.
It may even be that you have plans to landscape your garden, build an outhouse, shed or even plant in its place.
In any case, stump grinding is a great option to remove the stump entirely to enable you do do all of these things.
How is a Tree Stump Removed?
During the process, the stump grinder 'chews' through the stump, turning it into a mulch-like mix of sawdust and surrounding soil.
These stump grindings will usually sink down after some rainfall and settle. Very large stumps will often require spoil removal from the site.
You can be absolutely sure that no regrowth will occur once a stump has been ground unless it is a prolific species such as Poplar or Sumac, which often requires poisoning before grinding.
It is important to be aware that removing a stump does not include removing or chasing lateral roots. Removal of a stump typically sees a removal of twelve inches in depth or the entire stump removed with some small lateral roots remaining.
Removal of lateral roots will incur an additional cost.
What is the cost of Stump Grinding?
Stump grinding cost range will vary depending on the size of the stump and sometimes access restrictions, and therefore the size of the machine required to remove it.
Small stumps are fast and hassle-free.
When dealing with a hardwood stump many feet in diameter, the process may take hours.
This will increase the cost. Our minimum charge for grinding is usually around £ 120 + VAT, but this can be reduced if other works are taking place at your property.
