What is a Crown Reduction?
A full crown reduction involves removing branches from the crown of your tree.
This balances the tree, reduces density and reduces overall height and spread.
This improves the health and aesthetics of your tree.
How often should have a crown reduction?
At Hamilton's Trees and Gardens, we recommend that mature trees are reduced every three to five years.
Young trees we tend to say every two years and fruit trees as frequently as every year.
When should a crown reduction be carried out?
A crown reduction, like most pruning, is best carried out in the dormant period, late Autumn and Winter.
However, this is not a hard and fast rule. Most trees can be pruned year round if necessary.
Why should you have a crown reduction?
If you feel a tree is encroaching on your garden, blocking light or looking messy, a crown reduction would be a favourable option over having the tree removed.
Not only do well kept trees add value to a property, they also play a key role in the balance of your local eco system
How much does a Crow Reduction cost?
Cost is very much unique to each situation and size of the tree will obviously pay a part in the overall cost due to the additional time involved
Things like access will also have a bearing as well, along with hazards and location.
As a rough estimate to help you in the early stages of you enquiry, a small tree may cost in the region of £100 and large trees may cost £2,000 or more depending.
